Dior Sauvage Parfum Revisted

Recently, my fiancee and I spent some time out of town and, as usual when I travel, I only brought one bottle of cologne. Rather then bring either the Sauvage EDT or D&G Light Blue, which were my top choices, I decided to give something I've kind of neglected thus far a chance, that being the Sauvage Parfum.

I could definitely see Don Draper from
Mad Men wearing the parfum; that is,
if it was around in the 1960s.

Now, the reason I haven't worn it much is because it cost $150 and honestly, I want to save it for when I go back to work and am around other people. But considering that we were going to be around other people while we were out of town, I decided to give it a shot; I'm really glad I did too because I am now able to appreciate it a bit more than I did initially.

You probably remember from my Dior Sauvage review that I only gave the parfum an 8/10 because I thought it wasn't strong enough. In other words, at first I thought it was way too subtle and not worth the money. But after wearing it for five days straight, because I had no other choices, I realize that even though it's subtle it still projects nicely.

The sandalwood notes gives it a really nice sense of refinement; one that I think most of us would really appreciate. The bergamot and orange opening is really nice too, and gives it a subtle vibrancy of sorts.

In my review I had said how adding some pepper or other spice in order to increase the longevity might benefit the composition, but now I think that pepper or spice would ruin the composition. I think I understand what Dior was going for here. They wanted a professional version of Sauvage.

The more I wear it the more I envision the parfum being worn by a business executive or even a CEO. This would explain the higher price tag as well. This is the boss' Sauvage, and as such, it's going to cost a bit more money because the boss has a bit more money to spend.

So, should you get it?

It depends on what you want out of your cologne. If you want something to wear to a bar while you hang out with friends then this isn't going to be the one you want. In that case, I would go with the EDT or EDP. But if you want to appear more professional at work or are looking for a promotion, then I think this one is perfect. It's definitely not a super versatile fragrance though. I would only wear it in professional settings or at special events.

After really getting to use Dior Parfum and get a much better feel for it, I would now give this one a 9.5/10. I almost like it more than the EDP, but because of the limitations in terms of when you can wear the parfum, I don't think it's quite as good.

But what do you guys think? Have you tried the parfum? How does it compare to the EDT and EDP? Let me know in the comments!
